Como pleasure grounds is a beautiful bush park set on a scenic point of the Georges River. With a great range of activities and facilities including cafes, a free pool, picnic tables, bbqs and playground, it’s a park to revisit again and again.

The long

Access

Situated in the Sutherland Shire, South of Sydney, Como pleasure grounds is accessible by car or train. For those driving, there is free parking onsite. The dedicated parking at the grounds fills up quickly, but you should be able to find a park on the street.

If you’re catching the train, catch the train to Como, on the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line. It is a short, essy 10 min walk from the station to the pleasure grounds, accessible with prams.

The Park

Como pleasure grounds, established in 1895, is a picturesque, beautiful bush park, on a point on the Georges River.

Multiple picnic areas, with bbq’s, tables and bubblers, there are plenty of places to lay out a picnic rug with bub and admire the trees by the water. In the middle of the park is a rocky knoll, if you’ve got bub strapped into a carrier, you could rock hop and climb to the top to admire the view.

If it’s warmer, there’s a free seasonal 25m pool for kids and bubs, or the netted tidal pool with a small beach down on the river. Water pollution forecast can be found here if you want to assess it before letting the kids jump in.

The track around the pleasure grounds is great for bikes and scooters and the Como to Oatley pedestrian bridge is just next door if you want to extend a walk, bike or scoot.

The Playground

A medium sized, unfenced playground, shaded by the trees that surround it. There is a range of equipment for all ages.

There is a bubbler nearby and seats for the parents to kick back and enjoy a coffee from the nearby Blackfish cafe.

Food Options

There are plenty of great options for breakkie or lunch that could be destinations in themselves. In order of distance:

  • Within the park itself is Blackfish cafe and grill. Outdoor seating overlooking the Georges River, with some great kids options on the menu!
  • At the entry of the park is Thai Rim Nam, with outdoor garden seating.
  • A short 150m walk away is Como waterfront cafe, within the Marina. Indoor and outdoor seating by the water and a kids menu.
  • The historic Como Hotel is 250m walk away, indoor and balcony seating with views and a small playground. Kids menu for all meals.
